The USA Summer Math and Science Academy served 150 children, nine pre-service teacher education candidates from the College of Education and six high school students from its 21st Century Community Learning Program. Arts Alive! promotes downtown Mobile as a vibrant place to work, live and play. This family friendly event gives everyone a taste of different artistic experiences.
The FocusFirst and SaveFirst initiatives of Impact Alabama used trained college students to perform 3,202 vision screenings for children and assisted 168 low income families with income tax preparation. The MLK Avenue Redevelopment Corp. has started a pilot backyard garden program in part of a national movement to make healthy food readily accessible to families living in inner city communities.

The J.L Bedsole Foundation has provided so many opportunities. Meeting new people, networking and being even more involved in the community are just a few. The Bedsole Scholars Program has been a wonderful gift to me. It has allowed me to attend the University of my choosing while not having to worry so much about how I am going to afford it.
